POTW: Adam Wood

PROJEQT OF THE WEEK: Take a lesson from Adam Wood as he brings Projeqt with him into the classroom to present his take on DeLillo’s “Underworld”.

As a grad student in English & American Literature at the University of Kent, Adam picked Projeqt as his primary presentation tool because previously, he faced technical issues when he was trying to present a deck off his Mac (the school’s projector didn’t work well with Apple software). In his own words, he told us that “A cloud-stored, browser-based solution like Projeqt means I don’t have to worry about that this time” – you’ve got that right, Adam.

As most of you know, Projeqt is a finalist at SXSW Interactive Awards next week in the category of “Educational Resource”. We just want to say thanks to our Projeqt users, like Adam, for making our potential as an educational resource, in fact, a reality.

p/s: We also love how one of our newest slide types was included in his presentation; transparent slides!

Important changes coming to your Projeqt account

Here at Projeqt, everything we do to shape our service is based on feedback we’ve had from you, our users. And this week we’re pleased to announce the coming release of our most sought after features – multiple Projeqts and the all-new profile page.

This update brings a few changes to your existing Projeqt account so we’d like to take a few moments to explain these changes and answer some common questions.

Multiple Projeqts

With a single account you’ll now be able to create as many Projeqts as you’d like, all with different design options and branding. Each Projeqt can have it’s own guest account, vanity URL and Google Analytics Tracking ID. In fact, working with a Projeqt will be virtually the same as it is today, we’ve just moved a few settings around.

Profile Page

To coincide with the launch of multiple Projeqts, we’ll be releasing an all-new profile page (shown above). This page will feature a list of your publicly available Projeqts along with an expanded view of the profile that is currently available in the lower-left of your Projeqt. In the Admin, you’ll be greeted by this same page when you login, allowing you quick access to work with all of your Projeqts.

More in-depth details on both features will be posted to our blog in the near future.

We hope you’ll enjoy this update as much as we do and as always, send your feedback to contact@projeqt.com.

—————-

A few common questions about the coming update…

I have a lot of links pointing to my current Projeqt page (i.e. http://projeqt.com/your-name), are you going to replace it with the new profile page when this update launches?

No, for all of our existing users, we will set your current Projeqt as your ‘default’ Projeqt. This means that when anyone goes to your Projeqt page, they will see your Projeqt just like it is today. Your new profile page will be available at http://projeqt.com/your-name/profile. When you’re ready to switch to the new profile page, simply login and turn off the default Projeqt.

What happens to my vanity URL now that I can have multiple Projeqts?

Absolutely nothing. Your vanity URL will look and work exactly as it does today. In fact, we’ve even made a few improvements:

  • Each Projeqt can have it’s own vanity URL
  • Easily switch your vanity URL between your Projeqts in the Admin
  • When someone shares or embeds your Projeqt, they will see the vanity URL rather than the Projeqt address

Is there a limit to how many Projeqts I can have?

Nope.

I currently have multiple Projeqt accounts. Can I merge them into a single account?

Unfortunately not with this first release. Stay tuned for more info on this one.

Will a Projeqt that is set to private show on my public profile page?

No, only Projeqts that are public will be shown.

Can I copy slides and stacks between Projeqts?

The current version of the clipboard only supports moving content within a single Projeqt. A future release of the clipboard will allow you to move slides and stacks between all of your Projeqts.

Is it possible to have a different Google Analytics Tracking ID for each of my Projeqts?

Yes. You have the option to set a tracking ID for all of your Projeqts or for each Projeqt individually.

Does this update allow for multiple guest accounts per Projeqt?

Each Projeqt is still limited to a single guest account user.

This isn’t about multiple Projeqts or the new profile page… but I really love Pinterest. Can you add a Pinterest slide?

Sure, we’ll add that too.

POTW: Prince Nod

PROJEQT OF THE WEEK: Prince Nod (aka Sean Taylor) shows us how to add a pulse to your story when creating your first impression on the web.

This Australian broadcast radio producer/announcer and DJ’s Projeqt serves as his brief “About Me” page, and utilizes a variety of slide types (way to go!). We love how he’s simply used our pulse slides to pull in live feeds from his Twitter, blog and Facebook pages – and how he’s creatively utilized our Soundcloud slides to showcase his work.

If you’re a musician, band or DJ who’s also used Projeqt to showcase your music, drop us a line – we’re curious to see what you’ve done with your Projeqt.

NEWS: Come and Meet Projeqt at SXSWi

In two weeks’ time, the Projeqt team will be packing our bags and hopping on a plane to Austin for the SXSWi festival and 5 days of nerding out.

If you are going to be in Austin, we’d love to meet you. We’ll be hanging out with our friends from SoundCloud for a couple of days at their Open House. Come by, say hi and grab a beer.

And if you are a journalist and want the scoop on Projeqt, email us to arrange a time to come and talk with us. We’ll be doing demos and spilling the beans on what we’ve been up to and what’s in store for Projeqt.

Hope to see you there!

5. Paste URL into the empty field provided on the Projeqt Google Docs slide type.

How To: Learn Our Keyboard Shortcuts

We’ve added several handy links to your admin footer recently with shortcuts and tips on how to be even more efficient (and awesome) at using Projeqt. One of those links will pull up our keyboard shortcuts cheat sheet. This is the kind of cheating that won’t get you expelled.
And if you didn’t already realize this, you can navigate the front-end of your Projeqt with the arrow keys.
