New organization of content choices

We’ve tried to make it simpler and easier to create projeqts, so we’ve bucketed the choices you get when adding content to basic, advanced and theme options. You’ll find these options as tabs in the pop-up that shows when you add or edit content.

The basic options are the essential choices you need to make when adding in content, e.g. what image do I want to upload or what is the URL of the YouTube video I want to add. This is the absolute minimum requirement of adding any piece of content. As you’ll find that often means just making one or two choices.

The advanced options are all the bells and whistles you could imagine having in a particular slide type. Typically you’ll find things like the option to create an outbound link, the cropping selections of images, the option to upload a background image, the info field, which can have a lot in-depth information about the piece of content in question to things that are specific to certain content types.

Theme specific options are things that link to the way you’ve selected your projeqt to be displayed. Say for example in the tile theme, you can select if a piece of content is displayed in a small or medium size. If this menu is not applicable for your view, it will not show up.

More Customization Through Fonts

In addition to the six font themes you can already choose from, we thought you’d like a few more options to give you greater customization of your projeqt. So we added 500 more fonts for you to choose from.

When you are editing your projeqt, just go to “theme editor” and “fonts” to select your custom header and body copy fonts.

Sorry, we can’t help you with the indecision over which ones to try first!

More Updates and a New Layout

When we launched the tile layout a couple of weeks ago, we promised more to follow soon after. Well, we’re happy to announce another new layout option and a bunch of updates that make making projeqts even easier.

So here goes…

Admin facelift:

We’ve made it a lot simpler to add new content to your projeqt. Now, just drag a new slide of your choice from the panel on the left-hand side of the admin, drop it where you want to place the slide and add your content.

Vertical layout option:

The vertical layout is the latest layout option that we have added, in additional to the original horizontal layout and the new tile layout. This one works well with editorial type content, when you want to emphasize that the freshest content is always on top. This may look similar to many of the blogging platforms out there, but the benefit of using projeqt is that you can pull in live content from many 3rd party services and continue to organize the content in stacks, which makes it a lot more powerful that your run-of-the-mill blog.

Info text:

You can also add text information to any slide now. This is useful for photo captions, video credits or narrating a particular slide, with more flexibility than a title alone. On most themes, the user can see the additional info by clicking the info button under the slide, but on the vertical layout the text will always be visible, allowing the you to give more background and context to your slide.

New sharing options:

Every slide can now be individually shared to Facebook, Twitter, Google+ or LinkedIn. The sharing options will be shown under the slide. This means your visitors can share a particular location or slide within your projeqt. And it will probably encourage sharing in general, which will mean more eye-balls on your projeqt.

Sign up with Facebook and Twitter:

This makes life easy for people signing up. All you need to do is to click on the Facebook or Twitter buttons to create an account on projeqt. So go tell your friends to sign-up.

Seriously. Go!

New tile layout for your projeqt

We have some big news: You can now set your projeqt to be viewed in a tile-based layout by selecting it in the layout section of your projeqt’s “design options”. This is a great way of showing lots of content to the user on the very first glimpse of a projeqt.

Each piece of content can be shown in either a small or medium size simply by changing a setting in the content’s properties. Users can click into stacks which appear as a new tile layout, or click on individual pieces of content to see them in a large-format overlay. Kind of reminds us of a service that rhymes with… um… ginterest.

Let us know if you switch your projeqt over to the tile layout by sending us an email at contact@projeqt.com or tweet with the hashtag #myprojeqt. We promise to feature the coolest ones. And look for additional layouts for your projeqts in the very near future.

You can see a lot more content at a glance in this view and it works well with non-linear content such as image galleries or portfolios.

Clicking any piece of content will open it up in an overlay window on top of the tiles. You can then move right or left in the overlay to see more content of then just close it to return to the tiles.

Changing the layout  is easy. You just click on the “Design options” menu and select the “Layout” tab and the layout you want. Feel free to try it out – you can always switch back if you don’t like it.

Click “Edit slide” to change the size of the tile in the grid.

An Even More Friendly Projeqt

Here at projeqt headquarters, we’ve been working hard to improve your experience when using projeqt. This next batch of improvements now makes it even easier to create and share your own projeqts. Furthermore, these improvements are now LIVE.

More Visible Stacks

Stacks are now marked with a plus sign that expands when the mouse hovers over the cover slide. Your viewers can now easily see that they can click to view even more content within the stack.

View Selector Tab

We’ve now moved the view selector tab to the top bar. This allows your content to stand out even more while still having the option to toggle between linear, grid, and presentation mode, plus fullscreen in modern browsers.

Mobile Performance

Who doesn’t check out projeqts on their mobile devices? A lot of time has been spent on making your mobile experience as fast and smooth as possible. We feel you’ll love the way your projeqts function on your mobile devices.

Better Presentation Mode

Your projeqt now scales according to screen size, making your text, images, video, and any other content, look even better in any size or any projector.

Bigger Arrows

Bigger arrows mean easier navigation on touchscreen and mobile devices. Don’t like arrows? Feel free to use the swipe gesture when toggling between slides.

SEO-Friendly URL’s

With a more human and search engine friendly URL structure, projeqts are now easier to find and link to. slides have their own address, so linking any part of projeqt can be done with ease.

Promoting your Projeqts

Have more than one projeqt? We now link directly to your profile page, allowing your audience to browse all your other projeqts. Your profile page contains your bio, social links, and all your publicly available projeqts.
With these improvements, not only does your creativity and content further stand out, but your projeqts are able to reach more viewers as well.

Feedback is a big part of making all of this happen. Feel free to send suggestions or comments to contact@projeqt.com.

NEW: Duplicate Entire Projeqts

For some time now, you have been able to copy and paste slides and stacks within a Projeqt. To make it even easier to get your presentations online quickly and without a hitch, you can now duplicate an entire Projeqt. Think of the time that can save you when having to create slightly different presentations for different audiences. A simple click from your profile home page, and hey presto. Not one, but two Projeqts. Want to do it again? Go ahead! There is no limit to how many Projeqts you can have in your account.

NEW: Add More Music to your Presentation

Nine times out of ten, you will find us blasting music here at Projeqt HQ, while we toil and tinker away. We love music. And more importantly, we LOVE Spotify – it helps keep the harmony with our eclectic tastes!

Yesterday, we happened upon an announcement on Mashable about the new Spotify Play button, our immediate reaction was: We want one of those. How quickly can we make a Projeqt Spotify slide?

The answer? Pretty quickly. Today, we would like to welcome Spotify as the newest pulse slide on Projeqt.

Currently, we support 3 types of Spotify embed – single track, album or playlist – in 2 formats; either the HTTP link which looks something like this:

http://open.spotify.com/track/6BqWhxll86CGGE6WxgdRqG

Or the Spotify URI which looks like this:
spotify:track:6BqWhxll86CGGE6WxgdRqG
For instructions on how to get the HTTP or URI link for any track, album or playlist, click here.
At this point, we don’t support Artist embeds but as Spotify permits, we will add that too.
So when you are done creating your Spotify pulses, it could look something like this (and yes, Dragonette are one of our current albums of the week):

Let us know what you think about the new slides and features we’ve been adding. Don’t forget, you can still add other audio – music, spoken word, noises and much more – using the fabulous SoundCloud.

IMPROVED: Stretch Your Theme’s Background

Background Image Stretch

We’ve added a new design option that allows you to stretch the background image of your Projeqt theme to fill any screen. This makes it a little easier for you to get your background images to fit any screen size, so that your Projeqt always looks perfect.

You can set this by:

1. Going through to edit your Projeqt
2. Clicking on “Design Options”
3. Editing the “Themes” tab
4. Checking the box “Stretch to fill the screen”

Important changes coming to your Projeqt account

Here at Projeqt, everything we do to shape our service is based on feedback we’ve had from you, our users. And this week we’re pleased to announce the coming release of our most sought after features – multiple Projeqts and the all-new profile page.

This update brings a few changes to your existing Projeqt account so we’d like to take a few moments to explain these changes and answer some common questions.

Multiple Projeqts

With a single account you’ll now be able to create as many Projeqts as you’d like, all with different design options and branding. Each Projeqt can have it’s own guest account, vanity URL and Google Analytics Tracking ID. In fact, working with a Projeqt will be virtually the same as it is today, we’ve just moved a few settings around.

Profile Page

To coincide with the launch of multiple Projeqts, we’ll be releasing an all-new profile page (shown above). This page will feature a list of your publicly available Projeqts along with an expanded view of the profile that is currently available in the lower-left of your Projeqt. In the Admin, you’ll be greeted by this same page when you login, allowing you quick access to work with all of your Projeqts.

More in-depth details on both features will be posted to our blog in the near future.

We hope you’ll enjoy this update as much as we do and as always, send your feedback to contact@projeqt.com.

Projeqt

—————-

A few common questions about the coming update…

I have a lot of links pointing to my current Projeqt page (i.e. http://projeqt.com/your-name), are you going to replace it with the new profile page when this update launches?

No, for all of our existing users, we will set your current Projeqt as your ‘default’ Projeqt. This means that when anyone goes to your Projeqt page, they will see your Projeqt just like it is today. Your new profile page will be available at http://projeqt.com/your-name/profile. When you’re ready to switch to the new profile page, simply login and turn off the default Projeqt.

What happens to my vanity URL now that I can have multiple Projeqts?

Absolutely nothing. Your vanity URL will look and work exactly as it does today. In fact, we’ve even made a few improvements:

  • Each Projeqt can have it’s own vanity URL
  • Easily switch your vanity URL between your Projeqts in the Admin
  • When someone shares or embeds your Projeqt, they will see the vanity URL rather than the Projeqt address

Is there a limit to how many Projeqts I can have?

Nope.

I currently have multiple Projeqt accounts. Can I merge them into a single account?

Unfortunately not with this first release. Stay tuned for more info on this one.

Will a Projeqt that is set to private show on my public profile page?

No, only Projeqts that are public will be shown.

Can I copy slides and stacks between Projeqts?

The current version of the clipboard only supports moving content within a single Projeqt. A future release of the clipboard will allow you to move slides and stacks between all of your Projeqts.

Is it possible to have a different Google Analytics Tracking ID for each of my Projeqts?

Yes. You have the option to set a tracking ID for all of your Projeqts or for each Projeqt individually.

Does this update allow for multiple guest accounts per Projeqt?

Each Projeqt is still limited to a single guest account user.

This isn’t about multiple Projeqts or the new profile page… but I really love Pinterest. Can you add a Pinterest slide?

Sure, we’ll add that too.
