NEW: Our Roster of Slide Types

We’ve added even more new slide types in the last month, so here’s a running list of all your options.

Latest additions:

  • Pinterest – Lets you pull in a live feed of images from any Pinterest username. Check it out here. 
  • Foursquare – Pulls in real-time content from your Foursquare username or venue URL. Read more here.
  • Spotify – Embed a track, album or playlist from Spotify into your Projeqt. Read more here. 

Pulse Slides:

  • Facebook – Allows you to pull in a live feed from your Facebook page. Read more here.
  • Google Docs – Allows you to publish publicly shared documents from Google Docs, into your Projeqt. Find out how here.
  • Instagram + Flickr – Grab any URL from your Instagram or Flickr photos and use them to pull images into your Projeqt.
  • Twitter – Pull in a live feed from any Twitter page. Read more about our Twitter features here.
  • RSS – Pull in RSS feeds from your blog site.
  • Youtube + Vimeo – Plug in a URL from any video on Youtube or Vimeo to create a video slide.
  • Soundcloud – Pull in an audio clip from Soundcloud and embed it in your Projeqt.
  • Google Maps – Allows you to pull a Google map directly into your Projeqt.

Upload or Create:

  • Document – Here is where you can upload any PDF document.
  • Images – You can either upload one image, or a batch of images in this section. Remember, you can also upload a transparent image here.
  • Title – This slide type allows you to create a title page. See more here.
  • Text – This is where you can create a simple text slide.

POTW: 89.3 KPCC

PROJECT OF THE WEEK: KPCC, a radio station in Southern California, uses Projeqt to tell the story of Los Angeles’ history in recognition of the 20th anniversary of the LA riots.

We’re always on the look out for great presentations and stories that are told using Projeqt. This week, this Projeqt created by KPCC (of Southern California Public Radio) caught our eye. Right on the cusp of the 20th anniversary of this event, they use Projeqt to remember the LA riots of 1992 with a collection of stories, sound bites and images that come together to paint an image of a moment frozen in time.

We love that they’ve integrated an element of storytelling seamlessly into this presentation; incorporating text with captivating images, video, as well as sound bites that are played through our SoundCloud slides. You can also see how they embedded this Projeqt into their main website over here.

NEW: Duplicate Entire Projeqts

For some time now, you have been able to copy and paste slides and stacks within a Projeqt. To make it even easier to get your presentations online quickly and without a hitch, you can now duplicate an entire Projeqt. Think of the time that can save you when having to create slightly different presentations for different audiences. A simple click from your profile home page, and hey presto. Not one, but two Projeqts. Want to do it again? Go ahead! There is no limit to how many Projeqts you can have in your account.

NEW: Check Out the Check In’s

Introducing the new Foursquare pulse slide. As with the other pulse slides, content is pulled in real-time to your Projeqt. Just enter a Foursquare username or venue URL, and watch your slide populate with the latest updates.

 

NEW: Add More Music to your Presentation

Nine times out of ten, you will find us blasting music here at Projeqt HQ, while we toil and tinker away. We love music. And more importantly, we LOVE Spotify – it helps keep the harmony with our eclectic tastes!

Yesterday, we happened upon an announcement on Mashable about the new Spotify Play button, our immediate reaction was: We want one of those. How quickly can we make a Projeqt Spotify slide?

The answer? Pretty quickly. Today, we would like to welcome Spotify as the newest pulse slide on Projeqt.

 

Currently, we support 3 types of Spotify embed – single track, album or playlist – in 2 formats; either the HTTP link which looks something like this:

Or the Spotify URI which looks like this:
spotify:track:6BqWhxll86CGGE6WxgdRqG 
For instructions on how to get the HTTP or URI link for any track, album or playlist, click here.
At this point, we don’t support Artist embeds but as Spotify permits, we will add that too.
So when you are done creating your Spotify pulses, it could look something like this (and yes, Dragonette are one of our current albums of the week):

IMPROVED: Stretch Your Theme’s Background

Background Image Stretch

We’ve added a new design option that allows you to stretch the background image of your Projeqt theme to fill any screen. This makes it a little easier for you to get your background images to fit any screen size, so that your Projeqt always looks perfect.

You can set this by:

1. Going through to edit your Projeqt
2. Clicking on “Design Options”
3. Editing the “Themes” tab
4. Checking the box “Stretch to fill the screen”

POTW: Carly Lyddiard

PROJEQT OF THE WEEK: Carly Lyddiard shows us that while parting is such sweet sorrow, remembrance lasts forever.

This Australian native used Projeqt to announce her new life plans to move abroad in a very simple linear Projeqt. The message of nostalgia and optimism in this story make it perfect this week’s POTW. Good luck Carly, as you set off on new adventures in foreign lands. We’re glad you chose Projeqt as the platform to tell your story to your friends and loved ones.

POTW: Andrei Khashan

PROJEQT OF THE WEEK: : Take a visual trip to Sao Paolo through Andrei Khashan’s lens.

Some Projeqts don’t need words to tell a story. Take a little breeze through Sao Paolo via Andrei Khashan’s photographs. This Swedish creative uses his very minimalist Projeqt to tell the story of his travels through different sets of compelling photos, broken out by city. There are some times when less is definitely more – as this Projeqt clearly shows.

NEW: Turn Your PowerPoint Decks into Dynamic Online Presentations

First, came batch image uploads. Then came PDF uploads.

Now, say hello to our new PowerPoint Uploader.

You can quickly and easily upload any PowerPoint file and turn it into a Projeqt. And while your slides are uploading, you can continue to work on other parts of your Projeqt. Talk about efficiency.

Uploading a PPT or PPTX works exactly like PDF uploads. You can choose to create an entirely new Projeqt from a PPT file at root level.

Or you might choose to add your slides within an existing Projeqt, as individual slides or as a complete stack. Just select ‘add content’ or drag and drop the file onto the dialogue box.

For best results, we recommend PPTX. If you are working in Keynote, we recommend that you continue to export your slides as a PDF before uploading.

Once your files are uploaded, add in your Pulse slides, and voila! One dynamic presentation, living in the cloud. And if you’d prefer to share with just a select few, here’s a refresher on how to create a guest account.

POTW: Paul Soupiset

PROJEQT OF THE WEEK: Come enjoy some bite-sized nuggets of knowledge, as sketched by Paul Soupiset at SXSW 2012.

We’ve been a fan of Paul’s work since we first noticed his sketchnotes from SXSW 2011. Just recovering from our eventful week at SXSW (where we won a SXSWi award for the educational resources category!), we were glad to see that Paul’s done it again and beautifully chronicled his experience and thoughts during SXSW using Projeqt — with his 2012 edition.

We love how he’s changed it up a little by constraining his sketches to 3 cm2 each (that’s just a little larger than a 1″ square) and included some videos in the mix.
